Straight Outta Boca

Straight Outta Boca is both where these pants look like they came from and the name of the octogenarian rock band I’m going to start when I get older.  However, the rock band is the future and the pants are now, so let’s talk about the pants:

They’re double knit plaid, they only cost me a quarter and I’m pretty sure they are vintage, men’s golf pants, albeit for a not very tall man.  I can totally see them on the golf course in Boca Raton in the 60s.  Pete Campbell would wear these pants.

The funny thing is that I wouldn’t say that man-shaped in any way, but I’ll be darned if these man pants don’t fit me better than any other crops I’ve ever had.  I mean, they’re a little big in the waist, but they don’t make my hips or thighs stabby.  And they go well with my coral sweater (Target) and leopard wedges (Tahari via DSW).  Man pants, people; they’re awesome.

In fact?  Today’s Takeaway?  When in doubt, man pants.

Happy Monday, All!

  1. Those pants are cute! Hurray for thinking outside the box. I never look in the men's section when thrifting but I am going to start!

  2. OMG! Can I please, PLEASE be in Straight Outta Boca? I play a mean tambourine. Also, those pants? SCORE! A quarter? I didn't even know you could get clothes for a quarter anymore. Even a stick of gum costs more than that. Well done, Gracey!

  3. Yay for unexpectedly great fitting pants! They look great on you and as usual I am awed by your thrifting skills. :)

  4. I'm just kind of in awe at this one, because I saw a pair of hellishly amazing Madras plaid men's golf pants while thrifting the other day, and was seriously tempted then decided I was nuts. And then you totally made a pair of men's golf pants work. Brilliant.

  5. Gracey this post made my day! No seriously, it did! I find it SO DIFFICULT to find pants that fit. (you know... the whole tall thing/hard to fit body type... I know we have the same troubles!) so Im always STOKED when a fellow tall person finds pants that fit! Cropped pants are even more difficult for me to find because they always look like bermuda shorts. Anyway, I never even thought to look in the mens thrifted pants section! Next time Im at salvation army, I'm headed in that direction! How was your Easter? Hope all is well!

  6. Oh and I forgot the whole point of my comment because I was being so self absorbed (sorry about that) but I wanted to say that you look positively lovely! Are you doing something different with your hair? The texture is looking amazing, your skin is looking flawless too! and your sense of color, pattern, and style is ALWAYS amazing and inspiring!

  8. I love the short length on the britches. Have you read the posts on menswear by The Waves? She claims they are better made. And a quarter? What a bargain.
