Love the Outfit, Hate the Photos

You know those days where you feel great in an outfit right up until the point where you see the pictures?  I think I’m having one of those days.  I think maybe I had one of those days yesterday too.  I thought it was the sun, but it’s overcast today and I still can’t seem to photograph worth a damn.

Don’t worry though; today’s post isn’t another photo-free post.  This is what I wore today:

Seriously, y’all, I adored this outfit when I left the house this morning.  I love the crazy print and the high waist of the pants (silk, thrifted).  And I love this sweater (Old Navy) for its lovely color, open-weave and button-back:

And I love the two together and with the nude platform sandals (Banana Republic).

But I do not love the photos.  At all.  I don’t think it’s the outfit; though it could be, I’m not sure high-waists are my thing.  Really though, I think it’s me.  Work has been hectic which makes me feel unsettled and unable to just relax and take a picture.  I’m just flat out twitchy.

Oh, well.  What’s a girl to do, right?  Right.

Happy Tuesday, All!

Gracey

P.S. Autie asked for a close up of the shoes:

  1. I feel exactly the same way! I haven't posted a 'fashion' post in a while because of it. Oh well, "this too shall pass". I love your sweater - the buttons down the back are just too lovely! Wish I could see a closeup of your shoes. :)

  2. For what it's worth, I think you look like a pretty, happy lady wearing a stylish, flattering outfit. I'm in love with your pants, and I would steal them if I could. I guess they might be an awkward length on me, as I am a non-giant.

  4. Thanks for posting and telling us how you felt - but I think you look comfy and bright. The pants are super fun - you should remix them soon and show us how it goes - don't write them off!

I had an outfit that made me feel uncomfortable all day. After I looked at the pics, I realized it really was a bad outfit. I never posted it, but filed it away when I feel like doing one big bad post with all the outfits gone wrong!

  5. Well, I think you look great, but I know what it's like to take against a photo. I've got more than a few haunting my hard drive.

I love the printed pants so much! I want a pair of crazy pants, but haven't found the right ones yet. Also, I wore cardigans backwards in the 80s, and it's one of the few '80s styles I'm willing to revisit, so I like that too, and the shoes are so very fab.

  6. The shoes are hot! They look like they would go with so many outfits.

  7. You always look photogenic and lovely to me, including in these pictures. But I definitely know what it's like to take an instant dislike to a day's photos, or a week's photos. The photos I think will be great are terrible, and the ones I think will be terrible are great. I also think women can be awfully hard on themselves.

You know I love that sweater and those neutral heels!

  9. I also have too much experience with photos that fail to capture the appeal of an outfit. And that show me in unflattering ways. Oh well...

    This ensemble looks cute!

  10. I had a horrible set of photos over the weekend...that I won't publish. I love your hair up!

  11. I gotta say you look pretty fab to me, but there have definitely been a few days where I've just had to trash the pictures because I just feel so...bleh about them. (Also, that sweater is amaaaaa-zziiiiiiiing. I don't have anything that's supposed to be worn with the buttons on back, so I'll just have to pretend with one of my regular cardigans. Someday.)

  12. those shoes are adorable! and i'm loving that sweater and those pants! i've been looking for a cute open weave sweater like the one you're wearing. i totally feel you on the photo thing. sometimes i LOVE my outfit but then i'll hate my pics of it or it just won't photograph well. but this looks great in the photos! i think you look fab.

  13. I think you look fab, darling, particularly in that open weave short sleeve sweater. (There might be a little bias there!)

  14. Awww. Don't worry. You'll get your photo mojo back. But I think you look great! Sometimes we're to critical of ourselves. Hope you can relax soon.

  17. I definitely like this outfit and It looks great in photos too, so don't worry. :) I love the detail on the back of the sweater and it's perfect with the printed pants. I'm going to keep an eye out for a pair like that!

  18. The sweater is great, and I adore the color. It doesn't seem to be available anymore, so perhaps another knitting project is in my future.
